Local artist and good friend, Rachelle Wirfs, is donating this beautiful piece of pyrography - The Homecoming - to be auctioned off as part of our fundraising efforts during Ballard Gives over the black Friday weekend. We have partnered with Labateyah Bridge Housing for many years for this event, and this year will be no different.
Labateyah is in dire need of new beds as the house's current beds are several years old and were donated from a local university's dorm rooms that had already seen substantial use. All of our fundraising efforts for Labateyah through the end of the year will focus on acquiring new frames and mattresses for their residents and we hope to raise the $8,000 necessary to replace all 25 beds.
Rachelle has been our featured artist during December's Art Walk for several years and expressed her desire to get involved and have The Homecoming auctioned off for the Ballard Gives event with the proceeds benefitting Labateyah as well.
We hung Rachelle's piece today so that it will receive maximum exposure, with the auction winner being announced on Monday, November 30th, following Ballard Gives. We will have an auction form on the wall next to The Homecoming, so stop by or call to place your bid or check to see if you've been outbid. Bidding opens at $100.00.
The Homecoming measures 23"x8.5" and features a combination of pyrography and staining on a live-edge slab of Maple. It is suitable for wall hanging.
